The Center on Law and Security holds counterterrorism conference at La Pietra
The NYU School of Law's Center on Law and Security assembled leading counterterrorism officials and policymakers from Europe and the United States at the University's La Pietra campus in Florence, Italy in order to engage in a dialogue regarding developments in the global war on terror.

Rodriguez weighs in on the guest worker program and other immigration issues
Even while the Senate was debating an immigration bill, the Mexican foreign minister and immigration experts from around the nation met in New York City for, "Rethinking Global Migration: New Realities, New Opportunities, New Challenges," a one-day conference cohosted by Immigration Studies at NYU. Among the participants was Professor Cristina Rodriguez, who specializes in immigration law, language law and language rights.

Issacharoff and Pildes testify about Voting Rights Act
Professors Samuel Issacharoff and Richard Pildes were invited by Senator Arlen Specter to testify at a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on renewing the temporary provisions of the Voting Rights Act. Issacharoff testified on May 9 and PIldes will testify on May 16. Both constitutional scholars have written extensively about Section 5 of the VRA, which requires certain states to receive preclearance before making any changes to their voting laws. May 15, 2006.

The Law School holds 9-11 memorial fountain dedication
The Law School suffered a tremendous loss when Daniel R. Brandhorst (LL.M. ‘93), Mark Brisman ‘92, Carol Keyes Demitz ‘77, John Perry ‘89, Christopher Quackenbush ‘82 and Clarin Siegel Schwartz (LL.M. ‘78) were killed at the World Trade Center in 2001. Four years later, on a similarly picturesque morning in Lower Manhattan, members of the NYU family congregated to dedicate a memorial fountain in memory of these six unique individuals.
