How To Create URL Links To Specific Articles, Cases or Statutes For Use In Blackboard

  1. For each resource you want to link to, you need to know the URL of the specific case, statute or article.  Follow the instructions below to ascertain the URL of the resource you wish to link to.

  2. If a resource has multiple URLs, it is recommended that you link to a pdf rather than a non-pdf version of a document.  Therefore, only link to Lexis or Westlaw as a last resort.

  3. You must prepend the Ezproxy prefix URL to all links you create to fee-based resources (except for Lexis and Westlaw).  This prefix enables the NYU EZProxy Server authentication prompt to pop up when the link is clicked, so that off campus users can authenticate themselves with their NetID and password and be able to use licensed resources off-campus.

The Ezproxy prefix is : https://ezproxy.library.nyu.edu/login?url=

  4. What is a DOI?  The Document Object Identifier is a unique number assigned to articles, which is used in the creation of URLS.  Many of the URLs you create will use this number.

  5. Add the link to Blackboard.
